Chennai Metro Rail services will be extended till 11pm on November 2 and 3 to facilitate people who go for shopping ahead of Diwali.
All 20 trains operated regularly on the mainline will run during this extended period from Central Metro to St Thomas Mount and AG-DMS to Airport. Depending on the footfall, additional trains will be added in the evenings on Friday and Saturday.
CMRL usually operates 20 trains every day across the operational stretch in the two corridors. An additional five trains are operated to cater to the peak hour rush from 8.30am to 10.30am and 5pm to 8pm.
Trains are operated between 6am and 10pm on weekdays with a seven-minute frequency during peak hours and 14 minutes frequency on non-peak hours. On weekends, trains are operated from 7am to 10pm with a 14-minute frequency.
