One of the major assets of Thugs of Hindostan is the performance of it’s star cast. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan carries the entire movie on his strong shoulder. Aamir Khan as Firangi Mallah has given his best performance. He looks funny in few scenes whereas menacing in few scenes. With kohl-lined eyes, ear rings and a nose pin, Aamir Khan slips into the skin of a Firangi Mallah. His priorities are set, money and life. He won’t mind betraying anyone and everyone if things come down to his survival. Fatima Sana Shaikh is more confident, ambitious and better skilled. She performs the action sequences perfectly. Katrina Kaif, as dancing girl Suraiyya, is used primarily to liven up the song and dance routines. The actress will be remembered for her bone-shattering dance moves. Rest of the cast performed accordingly.
The story of Thugs of Hindostan is interesting and impressive. It is a story of relationships, betrayal, adventure and the courage, of underdogs and their unlikely triumphs. The music is average but the background score is top notch. It elevates key scenes. Songs are wonderfully shot. The Cinematography by Manush Nandan is terrific. It has some fantastic visuals and some crazy emotions too. Art direction is natural. The editing is pathetic as at least a song and few scenes in the second half could have been edited out. The action sequences are well choreographed.
Thugs of Hindostan is a visual spectacle. The climax of the movie unfolds in a fort on a Dussehra day and the burning of Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
Overall – Film is worth a watch for Aamir Khan’s performance. But it is just an average movie
