Xiaomi Mi Max 3 to be unveiled in July, confirms CEO

The Mi Max 3 is expected to feature dual rear cameras and a bigger 5500mAh battery.

If you are a ‘Mi fan’, then you must be rubbing your hands in anticipation of the rumoured flagship Mi 8, which is supposed to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the company. While the Mi 8 has been drawing all attention with its FaceID-like 3D facial recognition system and an in-display fingerprint sensor, details about the successor to Xiaomi’s phablet model have already started creeping up. However, while the details about the handset are sparse presently, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the Mi Max 3 will be unveiled in July.

Lei took to Chinese microblogging website Weibo to express Xiaomi’s intentions of unveiling the Mi Max 3 sometime in July. Xiaomi has usually unveiled new members of the Mi Max series in the month of May. However, it seems that the Mi Max 3 will require some more time at the hands of its maker to be deemed fit for markets across the world. Lei didn’t unveil anything else about the handset though.

However, rumours about the Mi Max 3 have been doing rounds on the Internet for a while. It’s expected that the Mi Max 3 will essentially be a magnified version of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, as last year’s Mi Max 2 was essentially a Redmi Note 4 with a giant display. Therefore, expect Xiaomi to stuff in a Snapdragon 636 chipset with 4GB/6GB of RAM. We could also see a familiar dual camera setup borrowed from the Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, the Mi Max 3 is expected to sport an even larger 18:9 display measuring close to 7-inches. Not only a giant display, but the Max 3 is also expected to sport a bigger 5500mAh battery with fast charging enabled. Rumours are also ripe about the exclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack.
